Being Broke is no Joke...

Money is tight right now and that's something I'm not really used to. I'm a big shopper, love going out and rarely hold myself back on anything I want. But currently that is not the case for now. I've done well with setting a better budget and go out very little now. Yesterday I wanted to spend some time crafting and hanging out with my best friend so I set my budget on $20 to spend on a few crafting supplies needed and enough money to enjoy a good meal at Ashlin (a fantastic Irish Pub/restaurant in Kenosha). I'm trying to make a light box from an old plastic 'glass' block I've had as a bank since I was a kid. I'm going to make one side Halloween theme and the other just a general fall theme. Sort of like this:

You get the idea, probably going to be a silhouette of a haunted house rather than a jack-o-lantern though.

Speaking of Halloween, I finally thought up my minimal-to-no-cost costume. I am going as Miranda Lambert.

You know, the country singer.

No?

Well, she's my favorite and the host of my party knows/likes her too so that is satisfying enough to me. Plus, it's the easiest thing I can do. I already have a self-custom Jack Daniels shirt, ripped up jeans, cowboy boots, western belt buckle and to top it off I already try to get my hair to look like hers. So my last two props are to match some of her songs. I'm getting a small red gasoline tank and writing "Kerosene" on it for that song. Then I'm taking Ben's B.B. gun for "Gun powder and Lead" song.

I think I'll enjoy dressing as her cause a) it will be easy b) it will be comfortable!

Foodgawker on a Diet

Well I started another project I've always wanted to do: lose 20 pounds. It's day 2 of the eating plan that Ben and his best friend (both nutrition/exercise enthusiasts) have created for me. Pretty basic stuff and it keeps me really full through out the day.

The first day woke up to a nice breakfast of eggs w/salsa and a cup of oatmeal.
That's right I said a whole cup. Yeah, I thought I could do it even though Ben said that totally was not necessary...wrong-o! Also, I probably would never eat breakfast if it wasn't for the fact that Ben cooks it for me. I don't know what it is about cooking eggs but I just hate doing it. So, hooray for nice boyfriends who cook eggs well.
Then mid-morning had an apple and a protein shake.
Lunch, had a tuna with light mayo and pickle whole wheat wrap (mmmmm) with a small spinach salad.
Dinner was a piece of chicken and more veggies.
And my snack for at work was our own homemade trail mix.

I could barely finish the trail mix, which made me very proud because I'm normally a late night eater. This hopefully will continue working, I'm realizing that me just being able to eat a breakfast and stop eating by 7 at night alone would probably in itself show results, but my goal is to lose the 20lbs. by Christmas. So tomorrow, I'm gonna lace up and do my Jillian Michaels fitness DVD.

Lord, help me cause that woman is relentless....

Seriously, what the heck?

So there's a few things that fall under this title...

First one; okay so I'm way behind when it comes to popular books/music/media. I always jump the bandwagon way too late. Last week I was at the library and I saw Bridget Jones's Diary (the book) and I thought, "Sure, why not?". Well, it's an easy fun read so I finished it in a few days. I really enjoyed it, found it wickedly funny. So then I wanted to get the movie, thinking, "Oh, this will be just as good right?"

I was so far from right...

WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK!!!! Reene Zellweger has probably the worst put on English accent, it was totally off from the book, less funny and totally had all those Hollywood add-ins. (Fight scenes that had barely anything to do with the story) and they skipped over my favorite part of the book where Bridget's mother gets involved with a man who scams all her rich friends into buying time-shares that don't exsist!) Also the movie was so inconsistent in other aspects; like sometimes there would be on screen text of what Bridget would think or write in the diary and then they just sort of quit that idea early on.

So why am I talking about a movie that no one cares about that happened in 2001? Hello! Cause I'm the Queen of Being Behind.

Next topic; I still don't know what to be for Halloween. Everyone is going as a zombie, not that I have anything against that, but EVERYONE is. My best friends are going to be zombie Elvis and Percilla (even though she's still alive). I was thinking of being zombie Farrah Faucet (I don't have poor taste, I'm just heartless, heh) and Ben is thinking of being zombie Patrick Swayze...once again yeah probably poor taste, but who's here to take offense? I just got told I should be zombie Lady Gaga...to which someone else responded, "She already is a zombie." haha True Story.

There was going to be a final topic, but I am becoming tired and distracted, so is the life of a procrastinator.

Till, later....much later,

Sami

Tools of Distraction

The life of a procrastinator is never a dull one (I only avoid tasks that I find boring). Instead of doing tasks like: picking up, completing that cross-stitch from Girl Scouts '97 or making lunch, I will be playing our new Xbox Elite! (that my boyfriend has whined about wanting it for the past 3 months like an 8 year old boy).

Now personally, I'm not really that excited. I never played video games as a kid, so I don't know the first thing about them. In fact so far my favorite "game" is the little profile person you can custom make to look like you or whoever you want really.

But then he introduced me to Fable II. I sense that my ability to complete any tasks that don't involve deciding to defeat some bad dude or do quests to make more gold coins, will be put on hold even more now.

Oh, dear...

The Tooth Fairy

The Tooth Fairy (aka: how many more movies can Disney get Dwayne Johnson to embarrass himself in?)

I will see it:
a) Only if its for free or if I don't have anything better to do
b) With wanting to be a dental hygienist I like that my best friend has nicknamed me the Tooth Fairy
c) I adore Julie Andrews

No day, but today.

Being an accomplished master of the fine art of procrastination (decreed by yours truly), this blog was thought of many yesterdays ago... and the only reason I am getting to it now is because:

a) Sleeping in wasn't an option.
b) I don't have television.
c) To avoid other things I should be doing.

So with a sink full of dishes, moving boxes still stacked along the wall and hair still untouched by a brush, my first blog begins. This is for all the things that I said I wanted to do a long time ago that have always gotten pushed back to a later date. No, I'm not giving up procrastinating (I find new things every day to delay doing) but there's just a few things that need starting, that I've always wanted to do for me. Some of those things include:

  • Start a personal blog for self amusement
  • Lose 20 pounds
  • Make fabulous confections, crafts and arts
So there, I started one...yes it's a short entry but surly there will be more fantastic life changing entries to come!....later.

hopefully not
too much later...
